3.4 Case Inclusion
Each surveillance programme decides which congenital anomalies to include. A programme might choose to include all major congenital anomalies, while another programme might decide to include selected congenital anomalies, according to the needs of the country (see Fig. 3.7).
As will be discussed in Chapter 4, one consideration is to start with a small number of easily recognizable congenital anomalies and then expand to include additional anomalies, as a programme gains experience and resources.
