Nurse Staffing Hours Indicator
The NHSN Nurse Staffing Hours Indicator, Nursing Hours per Patient Day (NHPPD), has been developed to provide facilities with a tool to assess the value nursing staff provides around patient safety and care quality. The indicator includes registered nurses (RN), licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/LVN) as well as unlicensed assistive personal (UAP) such as orderlies and certified nursing assistants.
