Dialysis COVID-19 Data Dashboard

Overview

CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) is supporting the nation’s COVID-19 response by providing a Dialysis Facility (DIAL) COVID-19 Module, which enables an assessment of the impact of COVID-19 on patients and staff at dialysis facilities through facility-reported information. This information includes weekly counts of patients and facility personnel (staff) with positive SARS-CoV-2 viral test results, and weekly death counts among patients and facility personnel with positive SARS-CoV-2 viral test results.

Facility-level summary data collected through the NHSN Outpatient Dialysis COVID-19 Module are being made available to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, along with state and local agency data users.

On this page, data on COVID-19 cases and deaths among patients and staff of dialysis facilities are displayed at the national or state level. These summaries use data that dialysis facilities submitted to the NHSN COVID-19 Module. Differences in how each facility implements this COVID-19 data collection, including variation in which staff collect the data, may affect facility reporting patterns. Additionally, data summarizing patient/staff counts with confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths related to COVID-19 that appear erroneous or inconsistent with NHSN protocols are excluded. There may also be a lag in time from when dialysis facilities report data to NHSN and subsequent posting of the data on this webpage. As a result, the figures presented on this page may not exactly match data publicly posted by state health departments and other organizations.

This data dashboard is updated weekly on Friday by 8:00am Eastern Time.
