When to Use
- Users need to enter a few words or phrases, such as their email address or job description.
When to Consider Something Else
- You have a specific set of options from which user can select – 15 or fewer. Checkboxes or Radio buttons may provide a better experience in these cases because users can quickly make selections instead of typing in a response. Examples include organization, role, state, ranges of time spent using a specific technology, and options like “Always, Sometimes, Neverâ€.
