PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This enduring activity is designed enhance the learning and understanding of diagnosing and treating latent TB infection and TB disease for health care professionals.

OBJECTIVES:

At the conclusion of the session, the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe the spread and pathogenesis of tuberculosis.
  2. Discuss current recommendations related to testing for latent TB infections.
  3. Describe the process of diagnosing tuberculosis disease.
  4. Describe current treatment regimens for latent TB infection.
  5. Describe current treatment regimens for TB disease.
  6. Describe procedures for tuberculosis infection control.
  7. Describe the roles and responsibilities of different team members for tuberculosis (TB) control and prevention in the public private health sector.
