To support the modernization of the National Vital Statistics System using FHIR based interoperability by providing and promoting opportunities for training, technical assistance, engagement and connection
Collaborates with NCHS partners
Including MITRE, CTE, National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems (NAPHSIS), CDC Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC) program and Jurisdictional Vital Records Offices (VROs) to advance modernization efforts
Provides opportunities for virtual testing of FHIR-based interoperability across the mortality and natality workflows by organizing
NCHS hosted testing events (quarterly offerings)
Maintains a dashboard of NVSS modernization efforts
To keep a pulse on progress made in the vital records ecosystem with FHIR-based interoperability
- NVSS Modernization Tool Kit – Regularly updated with new resources as the needs of the community changes
- NVSS Modernization CoP Password Protected SharePoint Site – Repository of meeting minutes, recordings, testing event artifacts, and technical assistance documents; Contains a Peer to Peer connection folder where states can share relevant materials with each other
- NVSS newsletter – Monthly release featuring updates from the NVSS Modernization CoP
