Call for Papers | Community Engagement and Population Health From Practice to Evaluation

Submission Due Date: Monday, May 18, 2026

The complexity of what shapes health makes it critical to establish and maintain community — and the community’s engagement — to increase supportive opportunities to improve health. The importance of working collaboratively with communities to address factors affecting health is central to ameliorating persistent health challenges. PCD is interested in manuscripts that describe and evaluate activities such as

  • Successful examples of bringing community members together to address health concerns in schools and community gathering places.
  • Community engagement in data, analytics, and machine learning for chronic disease prevention and control.
  • Factors that support and undermine effectiveness and impact of community health workers, champions, change agents, brokers, or navigators in community settings.
  • Strategies to foster community or patient engagement for addressing collaborative approaches to improve population health.
  • Strategies to build and maintain community trust and engagement.
  • Collaboration among public health agencies (eg, local and state health departments), schools and colleges of pharmacy, community pharmacies, health care partners, and others (eg, faith-based organizations; community-based organizations; academic institutions; transportation, housing, and public safety agencies) to implement clinical and nonclinical strategies, including the selection, tracking, and reporting of intermediate health outcomes.
