CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Reporting Specification (CVRS) – What’s New in Version 2.5

Introduction

This document catalogs the changes from version 2 to version 2.5 of the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Reporting Specification (CVRS).

Instruction Changes

• Added language about reporting identified data to the “Introduction”.
• Updated guidance regarding the requirement to submit all variable names in the extract, whether the variable contains data or not.
• Updated guidance in the “Extract Timing” section clarifying that data must be sent on weekends and holidays.
• Updated version number at the bottom of instructions.

Redacted Extract Fields Changes

Identified Extract Fields Changes

• The “Identified Extract Field” tab is new and contains the specifications for reporting identified vaccination administration information.
• The “Identified Extract Field” specification contains the same information as the “Redacted Extract Fields” specification, except for the population requirements for identified data elements. These data elements include:
  • Recipient name: first
  • Recipient name: middle
  • Recipient name: last
  • Recipient address: street
  • Recipient address: street 2
  • Recipient address: city
• The population requirements for identified data elements listed above were changed from “Required. Set to the value ‘Redacted’” in the “Redacted Extract Fields” specification to “Required, if known” in the “Identified Extract Fields” specification.
