Definitions

Ruptured uterus
Definitions

Tearing of the uterine wall. Uterine rupture is a full-thickness disruption of the uterine wall that also involves the overlying visceral peritoneum (uterine serosa).

Does not include uterine dehiscence (window), in which the fetus, placenta, and umbilical cord remain contained with the uterine cavity. Does not include a silent or incomplete rupture or an asymptomatic separation.
