State-Specific Prevalence of Adult Tobacco Product Use and Cigarette Smoking Cessation Behaviors, United States, 2018–2019

A series of 7 color-coded US maps show A) interest in quitting, B) past-year quit attempts, C) recent smoking cessation success, D) received advice to quit, E) used cessation counseling, F) used cessation medications, and G) used cessation counseling and/or medications. A large proportion of states in the highest quartiles for interest in quitting, past-year quit attempts, receipt of cessation medications to quit, and receipt of counseling and/or medications to quit were in the Northeast. Additionally, a large proportion of states within the highest quartile for receipt of advice to quit from a doctor were in the Northeast and South. Among states in the highest quartile for recent smoking cessation, a high proportion were from the West, while a large proportion of states in the highest quartile for use of cessation counseling were from the South.
