Using the 2020 NHIS Sample Adult Data Sets
The NHIS 2020 public-use data set release is different from previous NHIS data releases. Because of COVID-19’s impact on data collection, three different NHIS adult data sets are being released for different purposes. Explanations of the appropriate uses for each data set, as well as links to summaries, technical documents, and data files for each set, are available on this page.
You are accessing the 2020 NHIS Sample Adult Annual data set. Use these data for single-year estimates and trend analysis. These data cannot be used for longitudinal or multi-year analysis.
