Implementation of a Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Intervention in Rural Guatemala: A Mixed-Methods Evaluation Using the RE-AIM Framework

PEER REVIEWED

Of 738 potential participants screened, 111 were excluded because their glycated hemoglobin A1c was less than 6.5% and 627 participants were enrolled. Of the 627 enrolled, 149 were excluded because of missing end-point data: 97 could not be contacted, 42 did not want to continue, 5 died, 3 moved, and 2 were excluded for other reasons. End-point data were collected for 478 participants; of these, 251 finished the study before the COVID-19 pandemic began and had both clinical and psychometric end-point data. 227 participants finished the study after the COVID-19 pandemic began; they did not have clinical end-point data, but they had psychometric end-point data. Thus, 468 participants had psychometric end-point data.
