Enrolling in the Provider Network

A Program-affiliated provider is a provider that has enrolled in the WTC Health Program with a CCE or with the NPN. Program-affiliated providers have agreed to the Program’s terms and conditions and are authorized to provide care that is covered by the WTC Health Program for certified WTC-related health conditions. Each CCE has access to a health care provider network in the NY metropolitan area—maintained by the Program—to serve all Program members assigned to them. This is known as the NY metropolitan area external provider network.

The NPN is a network of affiliated providers that are located all over the country to serve Program members that reside outside of the  NY metropolitan area. The NPN is operated by  Managed Care Advisors (MCA)-Sedgwick.

If the patient you want to treat is a WTC Health Program member and belongs to a Clinical Center of Excellence (CCE) in the New York (NY) metropolitan area, you will need to join the NY metropolitan area external provider network.

If the patient lives outside of the NY metropolitan area, you will need to join the Nationwide Provider Network (NPN).

Enrolling as a program-affiliated provider allows you to provide Program-covered care to patients with physical or mental health conditions related to their 9/11 exposure. If you currently have a patient eligible for benefits, they will be able to continue seeing you for their certified WTC-related condition which promotes continuity of care.

Once enrolled, other Program members with certified WTC-related health conditions can be referred to you.

By becoming a Program-affiliated provider, you can directly help the 9/11 community of responders and survivors. Their experience, and medical conditions, did not stop on that day, and many have ongoing or newly diagnosed health effects today.

In short, yes, you will still be able to treat patients who are Program members. However, WTC Health Program members with a certified WTC-related condition need to see a Program-affiliated provider for the monitoring and treatment of that condition to receive the WTC Health Program benefits.

If you are not enrolled as a Program-affiliated provider and your patient continues to receive care from you, the WTC Health Program will not cover your patient’s treatment costs. Your patient would need to pay with their own insurance or out of pocket.
