Trichloroacetic Acid

The Centers for the Disease Control and Prevention, Division of STD Prevention received reports about shortages for a trichloroacetic acid (TCA) product often used in STD clinical settings. TCA is a provider-administered treatment regimen for anogenital warts. The formulation and preparations of TCA products currently on the market may not be practical in some clinical settings.  Additional provider-administered treatment regimens along with patient-applied treatment regimens are outlined in the 2021 STI Treatment Guidelines
