*Each jurisdiction’s submitted data underwent a cleaning and error check process. Jurisdictions reporting ≥20% of total screened infants in the “unknown” category, for each demographic variable, were excluded from this analysis.

ǂPercentage of infants screened for each category is calculated among the total occurrent births (i.e. % Males Screened = (( # Total Pass Screening:Male + Total Not Pass Screening:Male) / # Total Occurrent Births:Male ) * 100 ). Test for significant difference between percentages was calculated using Pearson’s chi-square test where α = 0.05 (Software: SAS 9.4, Cary, NC).

Among 52 out of 56 jurisdictions that reported screening demographic data on infant gender, 97.5%26#37; of male infants and 97.5%26#37; of female infants were screened.

Among the 41 out of 56 jurisdictions that reported screening demographic data on maternal age, 96.4%26#37; of infants with mothers less than 15 years of age, 95.6%26#37; of infants with mothers 15 to 19 years of age, 96.5%26#37; of infants with mothers 20 to 24 years of age, 97.5%26#37; of infants with mothers 25 to 34 years of age, 97.1%26#37; of infants with mothers 35 to 50 years of age, and 94.0%26#37; of infants with mothers 51 years or older, were screened.

Among the 33 out of 56 jurisdictions that reported screening demographic data on maternal education, 95.8%26#37; of infants with mothers who had less than a high school education, 97.1%26#37; of infants with mothers with a high school diploma/GED, 96.7%26#37; of infants with mothers who have some college/Associates of Arts/Associate of Science degrees, and 97.4%26#37; of infants with mothers who are college graduates or more, were screened.

Among the 39 out of 56 jurisdictions that reported screening demographic data on maternal race, 98.1%26#37; of infants with White Non-Hispanic mothers, 98.4%26#37; of infants with White Hispanic mothers, 98.3%26#37; of infants with White (ethnicity unknown) mothers, 98.4%26#37; of infants with Black Non-Hispanic mothers, 98.5%26#37; of infants with Black Hispanic mothers, and 98.7%26#37; of infants with Black (ethnicity unknown) mothers, were screened. In addition, 98.9%26#37; of infants with Asian mothers, 98.3%26#37; of infants with mothers who are Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, 98.5%26#37; of infants with mothers who are American Indian or Alaskan Native and 99.0%26#37; of infants with mothers who were reported as Other race, were screened.
