Summary of Detailed Hearing Screening Results Among Infants with Documented Screening

(CDC EHDI HSFS 2016, N=40*)

Among the 40 jurisdictions who reported two-stage screening results, 98.6% of infants passed screening and 1.3% of infants did not pass screening. Of those that passed, 95.3% passed the initial screening with no additional outpatient screening. Of those that did not pass, 48.9% did not pass the initial screening and did not receive an outpatient screening, 24.7% did not pass the initial screening and the outpatient screening, and 18% did not pass the initial screening and were referred directly for diagnostic evaluation.
