What to know

Welcome
Welcome to this training series on practical modeling concepts for public health.
The objective of this series is to explore the utility of forecasting and modeling in public health practice.
We will cover this in three ways, by:
- Learning use cases of forecasting and modeling in public health, specifically in infectious disease preparedness and response
- Discussing the interpretation of modeling results for decision making
- Practicing communicating model results based on a realistic scenario
Part 1 of this series contains explanatory videos on analytic and modeling concepts and is accompanied by recommended resources for you to deepen your understanding of these topics. Part 2 contains activities and case studies to practice applying the concepts learned in Part 1; these include realistic scenarios to give you the opportunity to exercise your model interpretation, decision-making, and communication skills.
This series is best for public health practitioners who are new to infectious disease modeling, forecasting, and outbreak analytics. Specific roles that may benefit from this series are epidemiologists, disease investigation and surveillance staff, preparedness and response staff, communications staff, and decision-makers and policymakers.
