In Pregnancy
Recommended Regimen

Ceftriaxone 500 mg in a single IM dose plus treatment for chlamydia if infection has not been excluded.

When cephalosporin allergy or other considerations preclude treatment with this regimen, consultation with an infectious disease specialist or an STD clinical expert is recommended. Gentamicin use is cautioned during pregnancy because of risk for neonatal birth defects, nephrotoxicity, or ototoxicity.
