Dual Lectures: Vaccination Hub & Designing Behavior Change

Public Health Grand Rounds will continue to share important new content with our monthly sessions are on hold.

Join us for two timely presentations by CDC’s Preventive Medicine Grand Rounds. We’ll hear about Denton County’s experience as one of Texas’ COVD-19 Vaccination Hubs, and we’ll learn about the complexities of using social science to facilitate behavior change.

Denton COVID-19 Vaccination Hub

Beginning in January, Texas established large vaccination sites or hubsexternal icon around the state. The goal of these hubs is to provide more people with the vaccine and a simpler way to sign up for an appointment. Providers will focus on vaccinating areas and populations hardest hit by COVID-19. Dr. Romaszewski will share the Denton hub’s operation, achievements, as well as lessons learned.

Social Science for Designing Behavior Change

In public health and preventive medicine, helping people change their behaviors has the potential to save lives. Designing interventions for behavior change, however, can be highly complex, particularly for practitioners who work in dynamic and challenging environments. In this presentation, Dr. Chiou will discuss practical strategies, frameworks, and models to apply social science towards the design of behavior change interventions.
