Dengue Clinical Management Course

Overview

This course is a series of three interactive, web-based training modules. We recommend completing them in the following order:

1. An Integrated Approach to Optimize Outcomes in Dengue
2. Face the Case: Dengue Management
3. Virtual Practice in Dengue Management Through Simulated Scenarios

Each learning activity includes knowledge checks and reference materials. All activities in this series offer CE.

An Integrated Approach to Optimize Outcomes in Dengue (WB4945)

Objectives

At the conclusion of the activity, the participant will be able to:

• Identify dengue virus characteristics.
• Identify prevention measures for dengue virus (DENV) transmission.
• Describe the public health relevance of dengue.
• Describe clinical features of dengue, including warning signs for severe dengue.
• Identify appropriate treatment for dengue patients according to severity classification.
• Describe the importance of interprofessional collaboration across the continuum of dengue management.

Face the Case: Dengue Management (WB4963)

Objectives

At the conclusion of the activity, the participant will be able to:

• Identify the key points of a medical assessment for a patient with suspected dengue.
• List the diagnostic laboratory tests to order for a patient with suspected dengue.
• Classify the severity of dengue based on patient symptoms.
• Select appropriate treatment for dengue patients according to severity classification.
• Describe effective team skills (e.g., sharing information effectively, using simple communication) to address dengue.
