NACCHO Releases Report on Health Department-Pharmacy Partnerships
National Association of County Health Officials (NACCHO), with support from CDC, funded five local health departments to design and implement a collaborative partnership with local pharmacies to expand STI services and care. The project suggested that health departments can and should consider leveraging partnerships with pharmacies to expand STI care and treatment. Other key findings show that:
- Pharmacies are highly accessible and trusted healthcare providers, well-positioned to address barriers to STI care.
- Integrating STI services into pharmacy workflows is feasible and programmatically sustainable, though financial sustainability remains a challenge.
- Effective partnerships require strong communication, trust, and respect for pharmacy expertise.

Hepatitis Awareness Month 2026

May is Hepatitis Awareness Month, and National Hepatitis Testing Day is May 19. Both observances serve as a time to raise awareness about hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C while encouraging testing, vaccination, and timely treatment. Viral hepatitis is a major public health threat and worse, thousands don't know they are infected. Work with us to remind everyone that hepatitis A and hepatitis B can be prevented, and hepatitis C can be cured.
Help spread hepatitis awareness this May by using and promoting CDC's social media toolkit.
World TB Day

March 24th was World TB Day, commemorating the 1882 discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacillus that causes tuberculosis (TB). This year, CDC released preliminary 2025 TB data, which showed that the United States continues to maintain one of the lowest TB incidence rates globally, reflecting the strength of our national, state, and local TB programs. CDC continues to work with partners to raise awareness about TB.
