PFA-Supported Responses

In addition to advancing the Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Capabilities, in 2017, PFAs supported more than 50 public health responses to events that included natural disasters, the opioid epidemic, hazardous agents, seasonal influenza, hepatitis A, and the Zika Virus. PFAs served in leadership roles in emergency operation centers and conducted investigations during the California wildfires, and Hurricanes Irma, Harvey, and Nate.

PFAs led efforts to maintain situational awareness during such events as the 2017 Presidential Inauguration, Lollapalooza Festival, Talladega NASCAR race, and National Boy Scout Jamboree. Staff were deployed to Puerto Rico to conduct public health recovery assessments and identify immediate environmental health resource needs of affected communities.
