Pattern Settings Panel

At a glance

The Panel Settings panel allows you to create and adjust patterns on US State maps and bar charts. Be sure to use the in-built contrast checker to ensure Section 508 compliance.

This panel displays for US State Maps and bar charts.

Fields

*UPDATE* As of the 4.25.09 (September 2025) release, patterns are also available for bar charts. Additionally, patterns will display in the colored circles for map data tables.

Add (Geo) Pattern: Click to add a pattern to the map or bar.

  • Select Column or Pattern 1: Open the dropdown to set the pattern.
    • Data Key: Select the column to set the pattern off of.
    • Data Value: Enter the value. It must be an exact match.
    • Label (Optional): Add a label for the pattern if needed.
    • Pattern Type: Select from circles, waves, or lines.
    • Pattern Size: Set small, medium, or large.
    • Pattern Color: Set a hex color for the pattern. If the color does not pass Section 508 contrast rules against the background colors, the visualization will not render.
