Search Tips
CDC search uses a robust engine to power its searches. CDC’s search will find web pages, videos, and documents (Word, PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel documents) within CDC. Below are some tips on how to search. We are working to enhance the search to provide more powerful features and this page will be updated as more features are added.
Getting Started with Search
How to search?
- Enter in a few descriptive words into the search box
- Click on the search icon.
- Your results will be displayed on the screen.
- Click on the URL or document you wish to view. For example, type in “Flu Guidelines” and click on the icon.
Narrow your search by using the new tabs for videos, journals, and podcasts. There is an All tab to return to all findings.
Featured video section has also been added within the search listing.
Expanding or refining your search
Using the tips below will help to improve your search results.
- Case sensitivity: Searches are not case sensitive. Use either upper or lower case.
- Limiting results by content section: when you use Search in certain content sections of CDC, you will only get results using content from that section. To see results from all of the content available on CDC, you can click on the link provided at the top of your results.
Advanced Search
Select the advanced search to really narrow your results by searching for words, exact word or phrases, excluding specific keywords, limiting your search to content published within certain dates, as well as searching for specific languages.
