About
Checklists can help launch a school's safety and health and environmental safety program or strengthen an existing program. This chapter includes more than 70 safety checklists for hazards and occupations. It also has an index of 16 checklists for career and technical programs in schools.

Notice
The checklists are based primarily on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as well as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other federal government agencies' regulations and standards. The U.S. Department of Labor/Employment Standards Administration/Wage and Hour Division also has regulations for young workers-students under age 18 which limit working hours and prohibit certain types of hazardous jobs. Additional restrictions to working hours and type of jobs may be imposed by individual States. Students enrolled in a career school, apprenticeship, or other student-learner programs may be exempt from some of the Hazardous Orders.
