Background
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has issued this Broad Agency Announcement (BAA).
In this BAA, NIOSH is soliciting concept papers to pursue new technologies to improve mine safety. It is also soliciting concepts to adapt technologies from other industries for application in mining environments.
We are seeking efforts that promote the modification or final development of practical technologies or systems that can be adopted by the mining community in a short period of time.
Proposals to conduct theoretical or basic research will not be considered.
We encourage proposals that include collaboration with mining industry partners. These partners can offer knowledge about mining environments and potential commercialization.
