Overview
The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) links National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS) Health Center (HC) Component data with data from other agencies. NAMCS HC Component restricted-use data is linked to administrative data from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Patient electronic health records are connected to up to three years of HUD's program participation data. These data come from HUD's largest housing assistance programs—
- Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program
- Public housing (PH)
- Privately owned, subsidized multifamily housing
Linking NAMCS HC Component data with HUD administrative data provides the data resources necessary to support public health studies. These studies investigate the connections between housing support program participation and health outcomes.
Restricted-use
Due to confidentiality requirements, the restricted-use linked NAMCS HC Component-HUD administrative data are accessible only through the NCHS Research Data Center (RDC) network for approved research projects.
