CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention Epidemiologic and Economic Modeling (NEEMA) Web Tools

Dear Colleague,

July 11, 2019

Web-based tools can provide open-access to a tremendous amount of information to assist in public health work. CDC is pleased to offer you five new tools, developed in collaboration with National Epidemiologic and Economic Modeling Agreement (NEEMA) funded partners, that provide helpful content for your work to prevent HIV, TB, hepatitis C, and to protect the health of our nation’s youth. These tools are intended for state and local health departments to help them easily find data on PrEP indications, behavior change impact, disease epidemiology, and policy and cost implications by jurisdiction. The tools include:

  • The PrEP Populations web-based toolexternal icon estimates the number of individuals indicated for PrEP by jurisdiction, transmission risk group, and race/ethnicity.
  • Teen-SPARCexternal icon explores the potential impact of behavior change on reducing sexually transmitted infections among the sexually active high-school-attending adolescent population.
  • The Modeltbexternal icon tool estimates TB incidence from 2011 to 2015 among people who were non–US-born, had diabetes, or were HIV-positive, homeless, or incarcerated by state. Users can choose populations and see differences in case counts by state.
  • Tabbyexternal icon projects TB incidence, TB mortality, latent TB infection (LTBI) incidence, and LTBI prevalence in the United States through the year 2100. Users can select projections by age, origin, and for five hypothetical scenarios.
  • The Hep C State Policy Simulatorexternal icon shows the potential impact of different screening and treatment policies, and cost drivers to help state health policy makers make decisions regarding policy and investments related to hepatitis C.

We invite you to visit and explore these new web tools. Working together and using tools such as these help us focus resources, increase efficiency, and identify the most cost-effective services, improving our ability to protect the health of the Nation. Thank you for your commitment to public health.

Sincerely,
