View the 2009 Nevada Logic Model

Abstract: The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) developed a Strategic Lead Poisoning Elimination Plan scheduled for implementation across the entire state. As a young program confronting almost exclusively nontraditional sources of lead, the SNHD CLPPP has few, if any, models to follow from previous experiences in Nevada or other states.

Consequently, the focus should be on data collection and surveillance. These two related areas will be the keys to understanding and addressing the lead poisoning problem where it now operates in southern Nevada. As the CLPPP expands statewide, well-defined surveillance and information systems will be essential for understanding the lead problem in other areas, which are likely to have different patterns of environmental exposure and morbidity.
