Find out how Marion County's LeadADVISOR, an AI-powered tool, revolutionized access to lead inspection data, helping residents make informed decisions about lead exposure in their homes.

LeadADVISOR: Innovative Technology for Informed Housing Decisions
In Marion County, prospective homeowners as well as current residents often struggle to access and understand complex environmental lead testing data available on homes, which is crucial for making informed housing decisions. Recognizing the need for a more user-friendly approach, the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) developed LeadADVISOR, an AI-powered tool designed to simplify access to lead inspection reports. This innovative solution allows residents to easily navigate property-specific lead information through a conversational chatbot interface integrated into the county's Mission Unleaded website.
Since its launch, LeadADVISOR has transformed how residents engage with lead data. MCPHD successfully extracted and restructured over 3,442 unique records and data on more than 15,610 inspections, enabling the AI tool to provide clear insights into lead levels in homes. From January 1 through August 20, 2025, there were 121 interactions with the AI tool. The response from stakeholders and local representatives has been overwhelmingly positive, with significant interest expressed at public health summits and national meetings. Future enhancements are planned based on user feedback, including features like maps detailing lead service lines and associated risks—empowering families in Marion County to make safer housing choices for themselves and their children.
