Overview

The CDC E-learning Institute (ELI) is a six-month online fellowship that helps public health training professionals build practical skills in instructional design and e-learning development.

Designed for professionals with limited experience creating online learning, the fellowship combines guided instruction, mentorship, and hands-on practice. Participants work alongside CDC experts and peers from across the public health community to design, develop, and launch a functional online training course.

What to expect

Before applying to be a fellow, make sure you can commit to the program:

  • ELI applicants must have supervisory approval.
  • Fellowship activities require 2-3 hours per week for live online sessions, reading materials on the ELI site, participating in discussions, meeting regularly with your mentor, and completing assignments.
  • During the course development phase, participants should expect to spend up to 10 additional hours per week developing their training product.
  • Consider upcoming work responsibilities, travel, or other commitments that could interfere with completing fellowship activities.
  • There is no cost to apply or participate.
  • Participants do not receive a stipend.
