Role at CDC

As acting director of NCCDPHP, Dr. Joseph leads an executive team that sets the strategic direction for the center's portfolio, which focuses on preventing chronic disease and promoting health through data access, health interventions, screening support, and cost-effectiveness measurement.

Previous experience

Prior to this role, Dr. Joseph served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officer in the Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC) from 2005 to 2007 and was the medical director of the Colorectal Cancer Control Program from 2009 to 2021. She was the chief medical officer at the Arcadia Community Based Outpatient Clinic in the Atlanta VA Medical System before returning to CDC as chief of the Program Services Branch in DCPC. Most recently, she served as the acting division director for DCPC

Education

Dr. Joseph holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School and a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
