At a glance
Fourteen evidence-based motor vehicle injury prevention interventions can help states reduce crash-related injuries, prevent fatalities, improve road safety outcomes, and save lives.
Overview
Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death in the United States, killing more than 100 people every day. Research has identified 14 effective interventions that states can implement to reduce motor vehicle injuries and save lives.
Interventions
The interventions below represent evidence-based strategies with demonstrated impact on crash deaths and injuries.
Previously, the Motor Vehicle Prioritizing Interventions and Cost Calculator for States (MV PICCS) tool was available for decision-makers to evaluate expected costs, injury prevented, and lives saved; however, that tool has been retired.
