CDC End TB Thunderclap
CDC’s End TB Thunderclap will go live on March 24th at 12:00 pm EDT/9:00 am PDT. We need at least 100 supporters for the Thunderclap to take effect.
Thunderclap is a tool that lets a message be heard when we say it together. Think of it as an “online flash mob.” Join, and we will share the End TB message at the same time, spreading an idea through social media together. Organization Facebook pages may promote the activity, but only personal Facebook accounts can sign up. All Twitter handles may participate.

“Working Together to END TB” Social Media Campaign
The SNTC is launching a Social Media Campaign for World TB Day titled “Working Together to END TB.” SNTC is encouraging people in our region and beyond to share how they are working together to End TB by submitting photos of their work in the field while holding the SNTC’s World TB Day sign.
Photos will be posted on Facebook and twitter as part of the campaign to raise awareness about TB and to promote the work being done to End TB.

TB Lunch and Learn
The Southwest Georgia Public Health District 8-2 is having a TB Lunch and Learn with our TB consultants Dr. Richard Beasley and Dr. Rubal Patel. We will present an overview of TB, advances in TB treatment, review the number of TB patients for the past 15 years, and discuss the challenges and triumphs we face when dealing with TB. Certificates of award will be presented to all TB nurses and a special recognition certificate will be awarded to the Most Outstanding TB clinic nurse. In addition to the special event each of the 14 health departments will have TB educational materials and posters displayed during the month of March.

World TB Day Educational Seminar
The DeKalb County Board of Health Tuberculosis (TB) control program will be hosting an educational seminar on TB in Georgia, DeKalb County and in correctional settings, and we have an array of expert speakers from the State Department of Public Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the DeKalb County Board of health scheduled to give presentations on the aforementioned topics. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is hosting a World TB Day Conference in 2016. Michigan’s theme for World TB Day 2016 is “Migration & TB”. As immigrant and refugee populations become more common our event will speak to the importance of accurately detecting and managing the most deadly infectious disease in the world. The Ohio Department of Health Tuberculosis Program is pleased to announce details for the World TB Day Conference 2016. The conference will be held at Quest Conference Center, 8405 Pulsar Place Columbus, Ohio 43240.
World TB Day, observed on March 24th each year, is designed to increase public awareness about tuberculosis, and remind public health officials that in much of the world, TB leads to the deaths of nearly one-and-a-half million people each year.
The purpose of Ohio’s activity is to enable the learners to understand how to partner with facilities to set up the best care for their patient.
This activity has been approved by the Ohio Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. There will be 5 nursing credit hours available. Participants must attend at least 80% of the program and complete and submit an evaluation.

Fostering Partnerships for TB Elimination in Philadelphia
Description of event exactly as you want it to appear on the CDC TB website (no more than 100 words): In commemoration of World TB Day, the Philadelphia Department of Health, the Global Tuberculosis Institute at Rutgers, and the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health are jointly sponsoring this CME/CNE certified education event. This conference will address TB prevention and control efforts for the city of Philadelphia and surrounding areas. Topics will include current TB trends in Philadelphia, challenges and opportunities for TB elimination, forging partnerships for TB elimination, diabetes and other risk factors for progression to TB disease, diagnosis and treatment of TB infection in specific populations. 5th Annual Tuberculosis Summit
Public Health – Madison & Dane County and Mayo Clinic Center for Tuberculosis are jointly hosting the 5th Annual Tuberculosis Summit on Thursday, April 28, 2016. The TB Summit is a full day of presentations, case studies, and discussions. Topics this year include the TB Spectrum: diagnosis to treatment, 3HP treatment & side effects, complex TB cases, an M. bovis update, and statewide resources and epidemiology. For the first time, we will hear a client’s story & gain understanding of the experience of living with MDR TB. Guest speakers include both local and national clinicians.
