About

This table reports the number of cases of tuberculosis (TB) cases disease by residence in and type of correctional or detention facility and U.S. reporting area in 2024.

Key Highlights

  • In 2024, 824 (9%) persons aged 15 years or older with TB reported a history of incarceration, while 342 (4%) reported being incarcerated at the time of TB diagnostic evaluation.
  • Among those incarcerated at the time of evaluation, 32% were in local jails, 20% were in state prisons, 14% were in federal prisons, and 32% were in another type of facility.
