Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)
The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy (OHAIDP) has published a Request for Information in the Federal Register to solicit written comments, recommendations, and ideas for developing the STI Federal Action Plan. Electronic responses are strongly preferred and comments must be received no later than 5 p.m. ET on June 3, 2019.
There are dozens of STDs. Some STDs, such as syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, are spread mainly by sexual contact. Other diseases, including Zika and Ebola, can be spread sexually but are more often spread through ways other than sex.
