Registry Plus CORE is the main central registry database program. It contains automated tumor linkage and consolidation functions.
Overview
Registry Plus CORE is a database program for central cancer registries. It is designed to process all incoming source records efficiently. Registry Plus CORE has two main functions: preprocessing and central processing.
Preprocessing
- Imports North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) XML and HL7 laboratory files.
- Logs new abstracts and begins a tracking system for incoming records.
- Applies standard NAACCR edit checks with reports for transmission back to the facility that submitted the data.
- Allows locally defined processing options to be added.
- Includes a base National Program of Cancer Registries natural language processing model to determine reportability, histology, primary site, behavior, and laterality.
- Maps and automatically populates a NAACCR abstract with data received in the HL7 pathology report.
- Prioritizes cases based on linkage features and data item filters using search features and worklists.
- Provides a utility to update records in batches and undo any changes made.
Central processing
- Links incoming abstracts to the existing database with software-assisted consolidation into patient and tumor tables.
- Processes duplicate and modification records automatically.
- Displays incoming and stored data side by side and compares them automatically.
- Updates the tracking system with processing milestones for each abstract.
- Provides management reports.
- Exports records in NAACCR format.
- Automates preparation of files for national calls for data. Program and database script files are distributed when specifications for these extracts are released.
- Runs edits using the Batch Edits feature to identify and resolve data quality issues.
- Determines multiple primary tumors automatically.
- Consolidates data items from multiple case reports into tumor records.
- Offers user-customizable consolidation rules.
- Allows for geocoding updates to consolidated and abstract records.
- Provides a utility to update records in batches and undo any changes made.

Installing and upgrading Registry Plus CORE
Registry Plus CORE is unavailable for download. CDC-funded central cancer registries should contact their CDC program consultant to obtain these programs. Please contact cancerinformatics@cdc.gov for specific guidance.
Clients should not make any changes (additions, modifications, or deletions) to the database schema objects without written approval from CDC. This includes adding triggers, since they can cause performance issues and errors that are hard to trace. If you want to change the database tables, please contact cancerinformatics@cdc.gov.
