The Next Generation Sequencing Quality Initiative

The Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Quality Initiative offers a foundational, NGS-focused quality management system (QMS) based on the Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) framework of 12 Quality Systems Essentials (QSEs). Laboratory professionals, including quality managers, microbiologists, bioinformaticians, and others involved with development and implementation of NGS-based tests can find more than 100 ready-to-implement guidance documents, customizable standard operating procedures, and other tools to download and use for free. These tools are designed to be customized by laboratories to meet their specific needs. Find tools to address the many challenges public health and clinical laboratories face in pursuing high-quality results using NGS, whether you are establishing a new QMS or enhancing an existing one.

The NGS Quality Initiative is funded by CDC’s Office of Advanced Molecular Detection, and is co-led by the Division of Laboratory Systems and the Association of Public Health Laboratories.
