Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. This information details how to access immunization records for vaccine recipients who received a vaccine in Texas.

General Information

Texas's IIS is the Texas Immunization Registry (ImmTrac2), and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages. Visit this webpage to learn more about the IIS.

The jurisdiction is authorized by law to operate ImmTrac2. For more information, please see Texas Health and Safety Code § 161.007(a).

Child Consent to Participate

For children, ImmTrac2 requires explicit consent with opt-in by law. Parent(s)/guardian(s) must give explicit consent, or opt in, for their children to participate in the IIS.

Adult Consent to Participate

For adults, ImmTrac2 requires explicit consent with opt-in by law. Adults must give explicit consent, or opt in, to participate in the IIS.

Provider Reporting

Per Texas Health and Safety Code § 161.007(d), providers are mandated to report immunizations of children up to 18 years of age to the IIS.

Per Texas Health and Safety Code § 161.00705, providers are mandated to report immunizations for all ages to the IIS in preparation for, or in response to, a declared disaster or emergency event.

Data Sharing

Texas does have a policy that regulates sharing data from ImmTrac2 with other public health entities. The data sharing policy:
