Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. General Information

Tennessee's IIS is called TennIIS, and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages. Visit this webpage to learn more about the IIS.

Child Consent to Participate

For children, TennIIS requires implicit consent with opt-out by law. Children are included in the IIS unless their parent(s)/guardian(s) choose to opt them out.

Adult Consent to Participate

For adults, TennIIS requires implicit consent with opt-out by law. Adults are included in the IIS unless they choose to opt out.

The adult consent policy is based on alignment with the jurisdiction's child consent policy.

Provider Reporting

Per Public Chapter 824 of 2024, codified as Tennessee Code Annotated § 63-10-204 (39)(C)(b) pharmacists administering vaccines are required to submit immunization information to this state's vaccine registry.

Data Sharings

Tennessee data sharing does not allow disclosure of identifiable information from TennIIS except as listed in Tennessee Code Annotated § 37-10-401(c).
