Rationale for inclusion:
- Enables seamless electronic integration and data sharing by including vaccination administration date information, which allows for the smooth transfer of this essential data between the IIS and various health information systems while adhering to federal and jurisdictional standards.
- Supports accurate determination of which vaccines are due, overdue, or upcoming by tracking the timing of previous doses and applying recommended guidelines and spacing requirements.
- Provides the essential timeline information needed to report adverse events to Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and determine the temporal relationship between vaccination and the onset of symptoms or reactions.
- Provides documentation of the date each dose was used, allowing programs to verify proper vaccine storage, usage within expiration dates, and compliance with inventory management requirements.
