A study recently published in CDC’s MMWR, Trends in Nonfatal Falls and Fall-related Injuries Among Adults Aged ≥65—United States, 2012–2018external icon, examined older adult falls and injuries between 2012–2018. In 2018, one in four older American’s reported a fall resulting in about 36 million falls and 8 million fall injuries that limited regular activities for at least a day or resulted in a medical visit. While falls are common there are effective strategies to reduce fall risk.
