TED-Style Talks
Becoming a better epidemiologist didn’t necessarily come from another dataset. Perhaps it came from…the cockpit. What began as a discovery flight turned into a new way of thinking about preparation, communication, and decision-making under pressure in public health. Aviation’s discipline, from standardized procedures to no-blame safety reporting, offered lessons that public health doesn’t always practice but certainly needs. It challenged assumptions about how we gather information, reflect on success, and show up in high-stakes situations.
This talk explores how seeing problems from a different vantage point can sharpen judgment, strengthen teamwork, and ultimately lead to better public health outcomes.
