Access and enrollment

Webinar: Using County-Level Data to Increase Access to and Enrollment in the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program

The Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) expanded the National Diabetes Prevention Program lifestyle change program into Medicare. Its goal is to reduce type 2 diabetes among eligible Medicare beneficiaries with prediabetes.

This webinar:

  • Reviews county-level estimates of the number of MDPP-eligible Medicare Part B beneficiaries.
  • Presents MDPP resources from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services that identify where the MDPP is currently offered.
  • Provides a case study that demonstrates how to use this information for program planning.

Covered benefit

The National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) Coverage Toolkit provides resources and information for payers interested in covering the National DPP lifestyle change program. Payers can include:

  • State Medicaid agencies
  • Medicaid managed care organizations
  • Commercial health plans
  • Employers

The toolkit provides steps needed to offer the program as a covered benefit for beneficiaries, members, or employees at risk for type 2 diabetes.
