Functionality Upgrade Goes Live for Pilots
The VTrckS functionality upgrade for pilot grantees went live on June 13, 2011 and includes various grantee and provider enhancements.
"Diligence is the mother of good luck"
-Benjamin Franklin
Grantee highlights include:
- Usability improvements
- Ability to export mailing list
- Flag certain provider orders for review
- Reject supporting documentation as needed
- Run a provider aged attributes report
- Designate the main contact for a provider
Provider highlights include:
- Perform returns for all products
- Save/submit/delete supporting documentation
- Log in at different facilities as needed
VTrckS Project User Group (VPUG) Launched in June
VPUG is designed to serve as an advisory body to represent the VTrckS enhancement interests of both grantee and provider users. Initially, the group includes pilot grantees as well as two non-pilot grantees, Wisconsin and New Hampshire, nominated by the Association of Immunization Managers (AIM) for a six month rotation. Pilot grantees will serve as workgroup chairs to represent the full array of VTrckS functionality such as the order entry cycle, reporting and master data, ExIS and mass update, and provider functionality. All VPUG members are encouraged to participate in each workgroup to offer input and perspective. Eventually as grantees transition onto VTrckS, they will become active VPUG members.
With the assistance of VPUG, CDC will assess enhancement requests to determine if and when they may be included in a future VTrckS release. The VPUG's first order of business was to prioritize the historical enhancement list for CDC's consideration in the next release of VTrckS.
Planning Session Sets Strategic Focus
In early June, the VTrckS leadership team's strategic planning session refined the project's focus for 2011 and 2012. Notable outcomes included optimizations for VTrckS and a rollout plan for Spend Plan and VTrckS deployment.
Non-Pilot Rollout
Spend plan functionality will be implemented in four waves between April through June of 2012 for all non-pilot grantees. Concurrently, a full VTrckS roll-out will be implemented in waves from April 2012 - June 2013.
Continuous evaluation of project strategy may potentially accelerate rollout based on success.
Learning the Lingo
VTrckS terminology can be unique and different than what you’re accustomed to hearing. Each month we'll share a few new terms.
- Optimization: The process of modifying a software system to make some aspect of it work efficiently or use fewer resources. (Sedgewick, Robert. Algorithms, 1984)
- Enhancement: To augment functionality of a system (Wikipedia, 2011)
