|Slide 26. Mode of Treatment Administration in Persons Reported with TB, United States, 1993–2006. In 1993, the reporting areas began providing information about mode of treatment administration on the individual
TB case report form. Treatment administered as only directly observed therapy (DOT) increased from 21% in 1993 to 57% in 2006, the latest year with available data. There was also an increase in the proportion of patients who received at least some portion of their treatment as DOT (based on combining the percentage of patients who received only DOT and the percentage for whom some portion was self-administered). In 2006, 87% of patients received at least some portion of their treatment as DOT.
