| Slide 21. Primary Isoniazid Resistance in
U.S.-born vs. Foreign-born Persons, United States, 1993–2007.
This graph shows primary isoniazid resistance in U.S.-born vs.
foreign-born persons. Based on initial isolates from persons with no
prior history of TB, the percentage of isoniazid resistance was
approximately two times higher among foreign-born persons than among
U.S.-born persons. In foreign-born persons, the percentage declined
from 12.3% in 1993 to 9.4% in 2007. In U.S.-born persons, the
percentage decreased from 6.8% in 1993 to 4.4% in 2007.
