Participants learn to be instructors in the Pasos Adelante! program—an evidence-based, Spanish-language, physical activity program designed to increase daily physical activity among Hispanics and Latinos. The program strategies enhance self-monitoring, goal-setting, social support, and self-efficacy among participants. In the training's experiential component, trainees complete an abbreviated version of Pasos Adelante! as if they were program participants. In the classroom component, trainees learn about physical activity education, program planning, curriculum training, modeling, evaluation, and advocacy.
Audience
The training is intended for community health workers and Pasos Adelante! project
staff in the San Diego area.
Duration
30 hours (12 hours in experiential learning and 18 hours of classroom learning).
