Researchers at seven prevention research centers are collaborating to provide technical assistance to help state health departments enhance tobacco control research and activities at the state and community levels. The researchers are identifying best practices in program planning and evaluation and in the design of prevention and control programs, as well as providing guidelines for population-based programs. They have also made recommendations to enhance communication between health departments and national, state, and local tobacco control partners.
