Topics:
Healthy Youth

Researchers collaborated with 30 representatives from key youth-serving agencies in the Twin Cities metropolitan area of Minnesota to identify factors that influence self-directed and interpersonal violence among African American, white, and urban American Indian adolescents. The representatives engaged in group discussions to determine what was needed to reduce the occurrence of youth violence and to determine the causes of different rates of violence between boys and girls, and among different racial and ethnic groups. Findings will be presented as a model that can be used to guide public health practitioners as they develop strategies to prevent and reduce violence among young people.
